What to choose?

Ok,i made a thread before in which i got pretty much of a bashing, and to be honest,i an still not able to understand the rules here even after reading them 7 times!

Leaving that apart,i have multiple questions:
1.will an amd phenom processor last for five years ?
2.is amd having good after sale service?
3.can anyone tell the best among intel core i3,i5 and amd phenom black edition(all of them i.e. I3 500 2100 and others)
4.i heard that intel has better performance than amd true or not?
5. A bad question for which i will get bashing for sure:a friend told that all amd processors stop working properly after 5 years god they become buggy.please enlighten me...

Other than that, thank you for bearing with my stupid questions.

1. After reading all your questions, I've understood that you are basically asking for the reliability of the processor after 5 years, not its performance. It depends upon your usage. If you do only chatting , internet, Movie and Documentation then a current gen standard processor will last. But if you are in high end gaming, running lots of CPU intensive tasks, Audio video editing, then the current processor will obviously not able to keep up with the processors of that time.

2. Ya, AMD processors does have good after sales service. For AMD motherboards, they are made by diffident companies like ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, ECS, BIOSTAR etc; AMD only provides the chipset for the motherboard. So for the motherboard after sales service, it depends upon the after sales service provided by the board manufacturers, not upon AMD.

3 & 4. Current gen Core i series processors are called Sandy-bridge and they normally offers better performance that AMD processors on the same price point. The high end market is dominated by Intel Processors. However, in middle range segment, AMD still offers very good Performance/Price ratio.

5. If you take good care of your CPU then they will last for 10 years. Good care means cleaning the CPU Cooler regularly, applying Thermal paste over CPU in regular time interval to keep it cool etc. Your friend is wrong. How can a CPU be buggy after 5 years? Is it a software?

i don't know what is i3 500. maybe you are referring to i3 530-540 from last generation's processor which is discontinued now.

anyway, i3-2100 performs better than AMD, IF & ONLY IF you add a powerful discrete GPU. but overall cost of i3 + H61 (or HD67) + a midrange GPU is usually lot higher than Phenom II X4 + 880G (or 9-series) + a midrange GPU. Intel offers best bang for the buck when you got deep pockets, where AMD can't match, neither performance nor VFM.

so plan according to budget. if you have a high enough budget & need a powerful gaming PC, choose i3 or i5 with H67 and drop in a powerful GPU. else grab Phenom II X4 + 880G + same GPU. if you are not into gaming, then pick AMD A6 or i3 depending on your work & budget. also always try to make the rig balanced. don't get a crappy board so that a highend processor can be included. this never helps.

For cilus sir
i dont do av editing,but i do play games.casual ones.example:counter strike,payday etc.
I am buying a gibbyte motherboard so please tell likely.
I am considering to buy an amd phenom x 2black edition.please tell how it compares to intel's processors.
I an not the guy who puts thermal paste.but i can clean all the external and internal parts properly.

For sam sir:
please provide feedback on gigabyte m 68 m t s 2
the intel was a typo error :))
i an building an htpc for light gaming so please help similarly...

firstly don't call me sir.
avoid that board. its based on Nvidia chipset. also avoid Phenom II X2. i doubt you'll find X2 anywhere. instead get AMD A6-3650 + Gigabyte GA-A55M-S2V + 4 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3. as you have mentioned light gaming, the A6 is perfect for you. Its processing side is slower than i3 but the ondie (processor) GPU is faster than the HD3000 (maybe HD2000, not sure). in case of Intel, the GPU is weak & processor is lot faster. but for playing CS, even the Intel GPU is enough. but if you want to try some highend game, the HD graphics will fail. so now decide: get i3 now & drop a GPU later. or get A6 now & play almost all games at low settings. ofcourse you can add a GPU later in the AMD config too.

Firstly,i have a nvidia graphics card(8400 gs) ready for use and hence the board.for the processor,i an not sure whether it is x2 or x4.
So in this situation,is my choice right?
And what is your take on x4 with that motherboard?
I an open to other motherboard suggestions from 2k-3.5k

8400gs is a very weak graphics card and today's on-board gfx solution like Intel HD 3000 of Intel and HD 4250 for AMD actually offers better performance than it.
On the other hand A6-3650 suggested by Skud is called APU where CPU and a powerful GPU are packed inside the processor. the IGP is HD 6530D which is a DirectX 11 capable GPU and offers performance far better than 8400GS.

For better suggestion, let us know the budget of yours for the whole config, not for specific components.

Complete budget and what i an in need of:
budget:12 k
what i need within that:
cabinet
ram
processor
motherboard
power supply(have 250 w,will it suffice?)
expected spendings:
cabinet:800 to 1k
ram:1175 for 4 gb 1600 mhz.
Rest all for motherboard and processor.
I would like the best possible.
I find the phenom latest and the best.but i would like your opinion.

FSP Saga II 500W + local cabby @ ~3.2k
AMD A6-3500 @ 4576
Gigabyte GA-A55M-S2V @ 3536
Corsair DDR3 2GB 1333Mhz @ 674

total: 12k. 1k over your budget but worth it.

for now take 2Gb ram. add 4Gb stick later.

I should out say this, but your prices might be wrong.how can the price of a6 and phenom be the same.
Some mistake.my budget is 12 k,not 11k

Forget about rules.

Did you read this thread: *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/cpu-motherboards/149791-best-cpus-money-india.html

Your answer should be either yes or no.

3.can anyone tell the best among intel core i3,i5 and amd phenom black edition(all of them i.e. I3 500 2100 and others)
4.i heard that intel has better performance than amd true or not?
which one is faster in games?

No one has suggested you "AMD Phenom". Phenom II X4 yes.

AMD A6-3500 and A6-3650 have been suggested to you.

Did you read this thread? I'm saying this for the third time. *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/cpu-motherboards/149791-best-cpus-money-india.html

I don't suggest it for your requirements.

Phenom II X2 gets a straight no. Go for Athlon II X4 rather. Or Phenom II X4.

But Phenom II X4 + 8400 GS in games will be slower than A6-3650. Because A6-3650 has Radeon HD 6530D which is 4 times faster than 8400 GS. A6-3650 is better for you.

Although yes, CPU wise, 4 cores of A6-3650 are 15-20% slower than 4 cores of Phenom II X4, but you are not going to feel the difference. What you will feel the difference is, Radeon HD 6530D performing much faster (3 times) in games than 8400 GS. Throw away 8400 GS.

Choose wisely. Performance is determine collectively by the CPU and the GPU.

I hope you also know that A6-3650 and Phenom II X4 use different motherboard sockets. Intel i3-540 and i3-2100 also use different motherboard sockets.

BE PERFECT IN NAMING THINGS TO AVOID CONFUSION. Learn this lesson. :)
