Hello, I have a dell studio 1537
I had some batch files on my desktop for my students
My sister accidentally clicked on one of them
It created about 10,000 folders on the desktop and the system hanged up

I booted in safe mode , pressed Ctrl A and deselected my original stuff and deleted all
They went in bin and then i cleared the bin.. Now my system works fine in safe mode.
But when i go in normal mode , i just get the start taskbar and a cursor which shows busy.. After waiting for 5 mins it shows not responsing and even the taskbar goes..

Wat went wrong ??
The batch file clicked had just 3 lines of creating 10,000 folders , dats it
and the folders are now deleted.

What i tried:
I have tried loading the explorer.exe in process via Ctrl + Alt + Delete
System Restore is Not working
I dnt have the repair or recovery option

I cant format as i have my student`s data in it for a a national level competition ( i backed it up via safe mode , but i m very very sure , something silly is going on here and lappy is fine

Please tell what to do

i m using Vista

Thanks & regards

In normal mode :
i just get a black screen with taskbar.. and gtalk popup comes as it is in startup..
Ctrl + Alt + delete works
Windows button not working

Last known good config >> does not work

msconfig >> selective startup >> does not work

all loads fine in safe mode

i do get the taskbar if i type explorer in xtrl alt del so i dnt think this can be a video problem.

** I doubt this is a hardware problem , as all was cool till afternoon **

Just one thing. When you tried starting explorer.exe from Task Manager, did you killed every other explorer.exe processes already in the list?
