Windows explorer hangs on accessing Videos

Hi friends,

I have AMD Athlon 64 x2 4800+ (Brisbane) around 4yrs old now. Whenever I access a folder containing Videos, the CPU usage steps up to 100% instantly and windows explorer starts hanging & then there is no other way than killing & restarting the windows explorer from task manager. I have 2x2gb ddr2 ram modules (Kingston & Dynet) installed on Asus M2n-MX-SE mobo and Windows 7 Ultimate OS.

Plz help me to under stand what is the problem & is there any cure for it?
Plz let me know if any other information required from my side.

Thanks

Try installing latest codec packs like K-lite. Explorer usually crashes while generating thumbnails for your videos. I had faced similar issue with one of the versions of K-Lite, but solved it by updating the same. If that also does not solve it try diabling generation of thumbnails either by doing some registry tweaks or using tools like twaekui.

hope this helps.

BMG ftw!!
Looks like a virus creating the problem. It must be in the folder containing the video files.
Or,
The folder containing video is corrupt.
