Will 2TB HDD show down my PC ?

Hi Guys, I am upgrading my PC and I seriously need a good capacity HDD since I am presently having a Seagate 80GB HDD :p 6 years old. My foremost preference is storage space. So I am thinking of buying a 2TB HDD at about 6.6 K from Flipkart. But I read that 2 TB HDDs are slow and having 5600 rpm. But some also says that since its much denser, slow speed doesnot matter.

And I am going to keep only 1 HDD in my system, that means I will not keep the 80GB HDD. So I am confused. Will 2TB be slow or not? Or should I buy a 1TB instead ?

Again if I allocate 500 GB to C: drive, will I face any problem ?

The Segate Baracuda 2TB 7200 RPM one also cost 6.2k and doesn't slow the system down..
See slprice.com and check the price list

nothing can be slower thyan your 6year old hdd
even a 5400rpm wd caviar green 2tb @ 7k will be faster than your current hdd

I think if you are adding HDD on same system then it will not matter because IO will be same. do not think lower RPM HDDs are slower. data rates in 5400 RPMS drive is more than 7200 RPM drives, where as latency in 7200 RPM is less.

^^true depending on conditions but still for an average user & usages it is not a factor.it is a matter of concern only in server space or professional HD video editing.

My present system is new
Config: AMD Phenom II X4, 6 GB DDR3, Corsair VS450, but 80GB HDD :p Sony Floppy Drive :p :p
I dont want SSD, I need space.

I think it will be slower because my laptop have slow transfer speeds compared to my 6 year old HDD. I own a T420, R400, and Dell Inspiron. All are same.
