Yes you can Hibernate in Linux too, it should be there in the end session menu. Havent tried FC5 lately but it works fine under Ubuntu's Gnome here.

hey tux sorry for the in-sensitive answer .... hibernating and shut down are actually meant to serve differnet purposes ..... hibernating is done when u require ur pc at regular intervals say like ur in office .... u go to office turn on ur pc check ur mail .... hibernate ur pc .... do ur wrk after some time back to ur machine chk mail and again hibernate ... thereby saving power and time which is consumed when u turn on ur system .... shut down is done when for a long time u will not be using ur machine
