Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2GHz B.E.
VS
Core i7 930 2.8GHz

Which processor can give the best performance in a gaming scenario/rig???

nooooo, you just misunderstood me.
i meant that if someone is doing encoding, 3d rendering and all stuff he should choose 1090t for that purpose as it excels in this field for which it is made also.
in overall performance, i7 930 is just a beast.

both are of same grade
the difference if of the physical cores
some may say that the i7 is better and some may not think the same
the smart buyer is one who gets the "value for money" performance keeping in mind that his needs are satisfied

I just came to know that i7 is much more effecient when OC. And as far as the price is concerned they both cost the same, its is just that the motherboard for i7 costs more. But performance is much better

Not that much.Msi's X58PRO is the best board for its price somewhere around 10k.

Actually you can get good multithreaded performance from i7 930 cause it supports hyperthreading. Also nothing beats an overclocked i7 in performance.

But the x6 1090t is also a very good option and actually has 6 physical cores.Since its a black edition processor,it comes with an unlocked multiplier. So overclocking will be easy as you can increase the multiplier count keeping the bus frequency constant & therefore no need to increase v-core.

Either way, you can't go wrong.

If you want the better gaming chip, you want Lynnfield.
