W.T.B External Hard Drive.

Friends,

I need an external hard drive. In a capacity of of 1 TB. Not costly and also should be fast if not ultra fast.
My budget is around 3k to 4k.

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Powered or Non-powered?

I recently bought four 1TB External Hard Drives; powered. Cost is between 3.4k - 3.7k. If you want portable, non-powered, cost will go up to around 4.5-4.7k.

As far as brands go, there aren't many choices. Seagate and WD are there. Both are good but I usually have better luck with Seagate but Seagates also cost a few hundred bucks more than WD.

Go for Seagate goflex you can upgrade from usb2.0 to usb 3.0 by changing the adapter.Its more futuristic.

Today i bought 1 TB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex @ Rs 5600. there is no password protection for disk. otherwise performance is good.

5600 is too much for 1 TB. Are you sure its 1 TB or is it 2 TB.
