Hi guys..........I'm facing a strange problem..........
its not a show stopper........but its annoying................

The volume icon in taskbar is disappearing whenever I reboot system. After booting I go to control panel and add it again by selecting "place volume icon in.........", then it shows........but it disappears when I reboot again..........

Wat is it?? How to fix it??:confused::confused::confused::confused:

I'm not a g33k but I'll try to help :D. I'm not sure but check that the sound card driver is included(and ticked) in the startup list in msconfig. (Or perhaps in the services list?)

Seems sndvol32.exe file might be curruptd. follow these steps to recover it:
1. boot from xp CD and open the recovery console.
2. navigate to your CD drive by cd command.
3. navigate to i386 by cd i386.
4. expand sndvol32.ex_ as:
expand -r sndvol32_%systemroot%\system32
5. reboot.

+1 sndvol32 is corrupted. follow the instruction provided by amir.php.
