It will be a little catchy for a new Linux user, although graphical installer is available.also install software which u only needs.and dont expect newest software with Etch.is really meant for ppl who needs a stable desktop.others shud try Lenny or Sid.

I dont mind the tough part of the installation. The thing is I need a distro to manage my general multimedia and all. Stable. Cause this is going to be installed on my main comp. The specs are mentioned below!

the thing is the softwares contained are "outdated"(like Gnome-2.14 while latest is 2.18 etc) which are optimized and provides security updates regularly-perfect for a server.if u want u can see howtos:
*howtoforge.com
Now Debian Lenny offers a little newer packages also with security updates.so Lenny will be a sure try!.Sid means bleeding edge(Ahmm..) packages..

whether you are a business man go to windows vista.even i think it didnt give the aero effects.go to suse-10.2.it is the best way.then try mandriva-2007.it is also good for you.

Well, I have installed Vista currently. Will be installing Debian Etch on my other PC : CEL D 2.16Ghz, 512+256MB RAM, 40GB HDD! What do you guys think? Whole reason for Vista is so that I can get my proper work done. Linux is mainly for experimentation.

Forget all this crap. I this Debian is the way to Go. Am going to settle down(HOPEFULLY) on Debian Etch. It seems to be running rock solid on one of my PC's. So am going to use it!
