Drool!...Vista
I installed vista ultimate on my pc. here is my pc's config
1 Gb Ram
160 Gb HDD
Nvedia 6200
But vista is damn slow, slower than xp running on a virus infected 64mb ram pc. I have installed it on dual boot with win xp pro. in G:\ with 18 gb space.
Why is this happening? it's so slow tat it takes 10-20 secs for any window to open and the response time is also very slow. any typed text, appears on the screen only after 1-2 secs.:mad: how can i make it faster? it even takes 2-3 secs to swith from one tab to another in firefox:mad::mad::mad::mad:
I have already scanned with many antiviruses

Apart from what grade of a processor you're using, is there any particular process thats making this happen you think?

Rebooting
I have run Vista in 1 GB DDR and P4 2.66 GHz ... and found it running pretty good... may be problem with installation or Driver issue... but Vista runs pretty good with 1 GB RAM !!!

That's pretty decent then, mine's just bettering yours in the graphics part. Hmm, anything odd on the task manager's process list?

Do 2 things.

1) Post a your Hijackthis log file here.

2) Post names of all the applications you have installed.

This looks like some software issue, cos your hardware is enough to run it.

You might need to disable search indexing, thought it shouldn't affect this much.

I installed vista on Athlon 64 3000+ machine with 1gig RAM and 160gig HDD. No issues with speed. Check if there are any services hogging the resources.

Logfile looks ok to me.

Taskeng.exe, check how much CPU is it eating in Task manager? It is a schedular application, have u made any schedules in WIndows, like Virus scan at a time etc.?

That sounds like the problem. Is it Vista RTM or old version, cos as far as I know this was solved in RTM. Do this

Start -> Run -> Services.msc

Look For : Task Scheduler. Open it up and change from automatic to Disabled.

Then Start -> Run -> msconfig, under services tab look for and uncheck Task Scheduler
