view shared folders of others on same network

can somebody tell me how i can view the shared folders of my other friends on my lan
well i have tried pinging and then using the explorer by entering the ip address but dosent work
somebody please help me out

if ur isp doesnt allow intra lan sharing for u .. u cant do this ... !!
im assuming ofcourse that u guys are on the same isp

if u are directly connected to them
then u can access them only if u can ping them

in explorer the syntax is \\ipaddress

plz provide more details in further correspondance

Well if ur friend has invisible folders...and u know the shared folder name..
he must have appended a $ in the share name.. then u can't view the folder in the network neighborhood..

try this \\Ipaddress\sharedfolder$

Download Ip scanner and see who is online now
then click the online ip,there you will see an option of opening this computer in explorer
that it
the simplest and shortest method!!!

well i have many softwares like network assistant so it is not a problem to share files or chat or play i just wanted to know the procedure to do this directly thanx ne ways

hey as u said i`ve tried ip scanner well when i try to view my friends shared folders it asks for some kinda password
even though he has none even to logon to his computer or for the shared folders
