The add/remove option just removes Internet Explorer shortcuts from desktop/programs menu
Regarding to automatic popup of internet explorer from Sify connection, it also happens with Reliance RConnect software.
What u can do is just goto "Network Connections" and u'll get a connection there, which is used by Sify dialer to connect net. So just create a desktop shortcut for it and use it
U'll get no difference bcoz Sify too uses that connection

oohh those pop-ups. now i remember, my cousin had these problems(when he had sify bb).

i had installed ZoneAlarm(ZA) FireWall Pro. when the Sify BB Client tried to open IE, ZA notified whether to allow or not, just have to select DENY.
thats all, no more annoying pop-ups.

but ofcourse this will apply only if you're going to use ZoneAlarm firewall.
