Unable to hibernate /standby

i have an xp pro installed and when i click on shut down my standby option is disabled.
wot cud be the problem?

this is because all the drivers in your system are not installed
in other words xp does not knows all the information about your chipset
get your motherboard cd and install the inf driver for your chipset
