U.S. Shopping..plz suggest..

Hey guys,

One of my friends is coming back to Mumbai from the U.S. in July 1st week.. So was thinking wat components can be orderd thru him safely (w,'out attracting any penalties/unnecessary custom duties on the airport)

I was planning if these..

1.) a SSD (Intel based sata6 the 510 series) ---> Newegg.com - Intel 510 Series (Elm Crest) SSDSC2MH120A2K5 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

2.) an eSATA+USB2.0 based external hdd ---> Newegg.com - iomega UltraMax Plus 4TB USB 2.0 / IEEE 1394a / 1394b / eSATA External Hard Drive 34497

So, will he (my friend) be able to get these with him w/out any problems or niggles..?? :)

Also need ur views on this...

3.) will it be safe to order a Intel i7 950/960 processor (LGA 1366) from him as well..?? coz afaik Intel warranty remains the same all thruout their products all over the world ..right.??

and

4.) Complete water cooling kit components (part-by-part) incl. Cpu block+Radiator+Reservoir+Pump+accessories like tubing,fittings etc.. for my CPU only (not gpu)

I think he will have to bring them with their seals opened. And also only one piece of each hardware. Also how will you get service centers to service products bought in the U.S.A?

Remember- Only the products that have international warranty is going to be usefull for you. If any of them dont have International Warranty and get damaged in India then its trouble

You can ask your friend to get it.

SSD or external hdd (eSATA)

He will be allowed to carry Rs12000/- worth of item for personal use FREE.

My Suggestions:
1. Ask him to get some good CABINET for you (if weight is not an issue)
2. Laptop for you.

IMO no#1 & #4 looks viable & can be easily carried without any issues from US to India & indian airport through Customs.

Get 1 & 4 option, mentioned in your post.

thanx for all ur suggestions guys... really appreciate it... :) and thanx again for letting me know abt the finer points.. already knew abt the warranty wich needs to be international... but yes abt the Rs. 12K valued products.. thats really a good info..

Ok, hv told my friends to get info abt the products and their respective Intl. warranties so waiting for his reply...

but thanx again buddies... :)
