I have heard a lot about tweaking or flashing of the BIOS especially to enable other softwares to be installed. Can anybody enlighten me what is this, what are the risks, how to do it and also how to restore the original settings?
Thnx in advance to everyone who help me out.

flashing bios is dangerous and only be done when there is no other solution yo solve a particular problem. This can be done by dwnlding the latest BIOS for ur mobo and then flashing ur mobo with it.

Flashing bios is very risky as it can make so much problem in hardware. It is done only if there no option exist. For flashing the bios there will be a bios utility provided with the motherboard.Download the latest ROM file and flash with it.Even some of our friends in the digit forum was troubled by flashing the bios.

Bios flash being complicated is a thing of the past. Its pretty obvious the board will get bricked if you don't keep the obvious precautions.
Majority of the boards you get now have onboard bios flash utility pre-installed on the bios chip itself. All you need is specific bios in your flash drive on a FAT32 format. Go to bios (or else read the manual, certain board require to press some key during POST and it will take you to the utility directly), open the flash utility, select the flash drive, select the bios and wait for a minute. Another precaution is the system shouldn't shut down during bios update. Bios updates barely takes a minute or max 2, nothing more.

^^ Depends what you did to it.
If you have a proper bill and its purchased with distri's sticker with it, assuming it has warranty left, just RMA the board. When they ask, don't tell about the flashing incident. There are situations that its best to act like a n00b to get things done, this is one of them. Even if the board is bricked due to wrong bios flashing and warranty is not there, assuming the board is still manufactured, pay a bit to the distris and they will get it repaired, most likely change the bios chip or maybe a replacement unit.
