Well, looks like he means the 'Go Invisible' feature. That way you'd be marked as 'Signed out' and yet you will remain online and can chat.

Try sending him a file and then see his ip using Netstat.

U can still know IP while chatting...

Go on command prompt & type

netstat -n

Now u can see Foreign Addresses. One of that adrs is of person with whom u r chatting...
