The Skinny Ripper is a somewhat strange product, weak as far as PCs go but more than capable multimedia enjoyment, even tossing a silent build into that list of advantages.

Unfortunately, there is one thing that nagged at us the moment we saw this thing: the price.

No matter how we look at it, we can't seem to find a reason to pay £665.83 ($1,051 / 801.63 Euro) for such a specialized PC, even if it does have an Intel Dual Core 1.8GHz CPU and a HDD of 1 TB (expandable).

The embedded Fedora Linux OS didn't strike our fancy either.

On the bright side, there is 10/100/1000 LAN and the “Subsonic” OS feature, which accesses the music stored on a server from anywhere in the world using a web browser, or a mobile phone application (access to DLNA, iTunes, SubSonic, SAMBA, SONOS web servers).

It is also possible to have music automatically ripped off a music disk. Go here if you're willing to pay a fortune for a glorified music player, albeit an admittedly good-looking one (aluminum unibody construction).
