How do you install themes in Windows XP without using a third-party software??

If there is no way, which is the best FREE software for themes?

And why has this feature been disabled in XP??????

well you can install themes by Patching the Uxtheme.dll file ...just get the patch from ..*www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=140707 OR www.softpedia.com/get/System/ OS-Enhancements/UXTheme-MultiPatcher.shtml .....and Patch your DLL file ...thus you can use all the StyleXp themes without installing the Software...just extract the contents of the Zip/exe ..and paste it to X:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes ...where X is the drive where your Xp is installed.........

To use 3rd party Themes in Windows XP, u hv to patch "uxtheme.dll" file!

For this either u can manually patch it or u can d/l "Uxtheme Patcher" as saROMan mentioned to automatically do the work!

After patching the file, u'll able to use those gr8 msstyles/themes without ne problem!

I used the patch and then downloaded themes from themexp.org. But its not working.

At best, the installed theme is only in the Windows Classic stlye and at worst is not working at all.

Can u be explain the process a little better?
