Please help me . i had a very weird experience with my PC.

Yesterday, my small brother did something with the PC, (the internet was ON). When i came back & switched it ON-- GUESS What !!!! the desktop was totally BLANK, the wallpaper was there but nothing else. (the desktop was blank with no desktop icons, start menu & taskbar)

i opened up the TASK Manager & under the PROCESS TAB --there was nothing.

Then i opened up the "msconfig" all the settings was fine.

then i restarted the PC in "safe mode" there also, no devices or application loaded up.

then i opened up the TASK MANAGER & under "new task" typed the following to open up the SYSTEM RESTORE APP. "
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe"

which i basically learnt from the additional book Digit gave (Feb 2006)

CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT COULD've BEEN THE PROBLEM.
I'VE ALSO RUN A FULL system scan (both MS Defender & AVG Virus scan.)

My PC config.==HP Pavilion, Windows XP SP2.

To me ity lookd like windows explorer has crashed.
Click on Start->Run. Then type explorer.exe. See if this works.

Today i was greeted twice by a ERROR===
"A WINDOWS EXPLORER ERROR"

ERROR SIGNATURE;

App. Version= 6.0.2900.2180
Offset= 00007a1c

Reinstall Windows Media Player Don't ask What is the cnnection between windows media player and explorer but wmp.dll is the essential file for running windows media player

Beware of the innocent
That is the problem with windows. All the clutter is piled one upon the other so that when one thing cracks, the whole OS crashes to the floor
