I have a set of 5.1 i Ball speakers that are currently being used in stereo mode. The other connectors I received require 6 individual channel inputs with RCA connectors. I want ot know whether there is any way I can get proper surround soun from my PC using these speakers, using a discrete sound card or otherwise. Other suggestions are welcome.

Well, if u have a new mobo(say 1yr old at the max) no need for a discrete sound card.
Else go for:
SoundBlaster 5.1 Active @ 1.2k

Thanks. What about the connectors ? Is it possible to convert the 6 RCA connectors to 3 3.5 mm connectors?

About the connectors, get three stereo to RCA connectors and connect your speakers to them.
