Hi Friends,
One of my friend is planning for few up gradations as his current Motherboard got died [expired & got dumped] on his 6 year old PC.
Current config:
Pentium 4 HT 2.66GHz - LGA775 [Stock cooler is also not working properly]
Intel 915GLVG [Not sure of the complete model details] - Got damaged
DDR1 1Gb (2X512MB) working
HDD: 80GB Hitachi - Working
Case: Generic Case with SMPS [300w] - working fine. - He don't want to use the generinc case as well as SMPS.
Monitor: 17' CRT - alright
KB : Generic KB & Mice Combo - working
UPS: generic 600va. - working
1. What is the purpose of the computer?
A: Need to Run Skype, Office 2003, Adobe & Watching Movies.
2. Are you open to alternate ideas/products giving similar better performance but offering more VFM/ sellers? If not- why?
A: Open for any kind of possible suggestions.
3. What is your MAX budget?
A: 10k , +/- 2k
4. Planning to overclock?
A:No.
5. Which OS are you planning to use?
A: Dual Boot Ubuntu & XP Pro X86.
6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: already have 80 GB.
7. What resolution will the screen run at & whats the size of the screen you want? If you already want have one and want to use it, mention its resolution and size.
A: 1024 X 768 [ already have 17" LG CRT Monitor ]
8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: 8
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: I will assemble it.
10. When are you planning to buy the system?
A: Within a week.
11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?
A: atleast one PCIe for GPU & DDR3 RAM supported MOBO.
12. Are there going to be any components that you don't want to include in this new rig? If yes, do mention.
A: Processor, HDD, Monitor, KB, Mouse & UPS.
13. Which city do you live in and are you open to buying from shops from other city/states?
A: Components to be purchased from Bangalore & PC to be used in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
14. Mention any other points if deemed necessary
A: Its very hot during summer [45 C], need a decent CPU Cooler.

RAM: Corsair Value DDR3 2GB 1333 - Rs. 1.3k
PSU: FSP SAGA II 500w - Rs.2.2k
Case: NZXT Gamma / NZXT Vulcan - Rs. 2k / 4k
Cooler: Cooler Master hyper 212 - Rs. 2k
