I am looking to build a file server on the cheap, preferably within 10k budget excluding hard drives. It just needs to have enough grunt to stream 1080p movies over wifi and keep a single browser tab open to keep my internet logged in.
Low power consumption is my key requirement for this build as it will be on 24x7. I would like the idle power consumption to be under 10W. I know netbooks with the Cedar Trail Atom processors can achieve my goal easily but is it possible to build one yourself with parts available in India? The advantage to building one myself would be expandability in future which netbooks don't allow.
