hello, apparently my old hdd (37.2 GB) is choke full of stuff and i need to get a new one, my budget would be somewhere between 2000-4000, what would be the best option available in this price range in terms of maximum size and performance, also if u culd throw some links then it would be appreciated, thank you :)

By the way, you can buy a PCI card with SATA/SATA2 connectors for Rs.500 if you plan to buy a SATA hard disk.
I am yet to buy a hard disk too. A friend of mine suggested that SATAs have a high failure rate (he has a SATA2 mobo and buys PATA hard disks !!! His faith has shaken my beliefs !!!) :D since data is more precious than performance (atleast for me), I cannot recommend any particular hard disk yet.

By their standards, Western Digital Caviar 3200JB should be a good IDE drive overall.
