Do not go for Asus.. My friend had zenphone 2 with 4 gigs of ram.. But screen is no where near our G2. Also auto brightness is broken.. Screen is not enough bright either.

agree wholeheartedly, the display looks really washed out.. dont go by 1080p alone
if you are moving from G2 -> Z2, you will notice this immediately

I totally agree on that

I don't think so, about the 150MB free RAM part

ASUS UI is good enough

Laser model just gives the option of S410 or S615 (3GB RAM) with 720p screen & laser assisted AF
I can vouch for that. Have been using the zenphone belonging to a colleague for a few days. Asus has one of the slickest UIs I had ever used, much better than the cr@p that comes with Samsung.

I agree, but it's not fair to expect G2 quality screen from a phone that costs less than 30% of the launch price of the G2. I had seen the screen of the Zenphone 1, its good enough(agreed its worse than the G2). I'm not sure whether any new phone under 25k has a screen as good as G2.

Get Zenphone 2 Selfie it has better speakers and looks cool too with slim profile.

OS is not not developed by ASUS it is by google asus can't do anything about it and yes android 5.0 is most pathetic android version but memoryleak and battery drain is fixed in android 5.1 .
Selphie is a wonderful phone but I find two issues there:

First issue is that I don't take selfies, so I'd be paying for something that I will never use(massive front cam).

Second is that the Selphie has a 1080p screen. The SD615 is pushed too hard to power a 1080p screen and at those resolutions not even stock android can always provide a smooth experience(looking at moto x play reviews). I'd rather have a 720p screen with a SD615. Otherwise there might be heating and stuttering, specially with the custom ZenUI which will tax the processor more than the default ui of the X Play.

Agreed, but G2 has one of the best screens ever used in a phone, even by today's standards. Hard to get something to compete with the G2 under 15k :p

Have you considered Xiaomi mi4 ? Its available for 15k on flipkart, you get a decent 1080p screen, SD801, a decent camera and 3 Gigs of RAM..
Granted, MIUI is annoying but under 15k, I think its the best considering ASUS phones are half baked @ software
you can get it for as low as 10k if you exchange your current G2

G2>>Mi4 in overall terms.

No point in exchanging G2 for that low price.

Did consider it, but I'm not a fan of Xiaomi. And with their recent MiUi fiasco I'm not sure about their update cycles. Also its an old phone, at the end of its life, I want to buy a phone launch in later half of 2015.

I know, but I want a good phone under 25k as mentioned.

Excluding the OnePlusTwo.

Mi4i has a good display for sub 15k phone, can't say if its better than G2(never used a G2)

I'm sure S5 has the best display in sub 25k territory, haters gonna hate..... But since S5, AMOLEDs produce good accurate colours (in natural display mode, but you will love it, its better than what my Z3C has)..... S6 pushed the boundary further by improving brightness

1. Shoddy marketing practice
2. The fact that the company will decide WHEN I CAN and WILL purchase the phone rather than when I, the customer want to.
3. Bad after sales support, flipkart and amazon are filled with sad tales of service problems.
4. The snapdragon 810, no matter what the company claims it overheats. I had seen this problem in gpus, while some cards will run at normal temperature some will definitely overheat(cpu binning, not all cpus run at same temps). I don't want to play Russian Roulette with my phone.

Battery life isn't great so that's not worth considering, according to me
Your G2 has better battery life
Yeah, bad idea.

Nice summing up..... Another thing, its OS is not stable...... My friend who owns oneplus one has already clean flashed the phone 4 times in the past year due to small software bugs (Although that was CM not oxygen)

nicely put.. I would'nt mind the marketing bit though. And SD 810 does overheat but the company claims it has controlled it by underclocking it and taking other such measures.

Qualcomm though needs to come out with newer set of chips quickly as its current gen mid & high end (SD615/SD810) both suffer with issues.

Hey guys, how does the Samsung J7 fare against other sets? Except the 1.5GB RAM it trumps sub 15k phones every aspect. Ideas?

Are you seriously considering J7 with crapwiz?

Comparing J7 to the phone which Nexus 5 is based upon is like comparing Acer/HCL laptops to Asus ROG series.

Yeah, that cr@pwiz bugs me, plus a lack of sensors and less RAM. But the hardware is very good, Samoled+Exynos+13mp Cam+3000mah battery makes a killer phone, only if it came with Stock android :(

Samsung Galaxy J7 vs. Motorola Moto G (3rd gen) vs. Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE550KL - GSMArena.com

Damn Samsung killing the mood, they haven't changed the design and icons(phone icon) in ages.

Wasn't S4 selling for 15k? If somebody wants samsung only, why buy j7 when S4 is there?

Though S4 has a better screen and more RAM it falls short of multiple features.

1. No dual sim, no 4G, big bummer these days.
2. Old phone, will not be updated much longer.
3. J7 has a bigger display, many people want that.

... other missing features.

Overall speaking, its the same reason I won't buy a LG G2 even if it came under 18k, these are the best phones of the last era, not much useful now a days: Samsung Galaxy J7 vs. Samsung I9500 Galaxy S4 - GSMArena.com

Gotta keep up with technology.

PS: I dislike both Samsung and their bloated os to stay away from the J7, just asking for an opinion. I will buy the J7 if its the absolute last resort, hope it never came to that.

1. Dual sim ok
Current state of 4G in India =
2. Yeah, even XDA support is weak for i9500 compared to i9505.
3. Subjective. Hate those slipper sized phones. :p

If talking about 4G, I hate the stuff as well. It's not required over 3G unless you are streaming stuff which will be expensive beyond anything. But 4G will be required because of policies. Before 3G was launched the speed of Edge was great, was getting 20-22KBPS sometimes. Now after launch of 3G they reduced it a lot, specially Airtel and Vodafone. Same with 4G, they will reduce 3G speeds and shove it down our throat, someone needs to pay for that investment, and the government will not let go of a single paisa for selling spectrum.
