I'd recommend these three ones. you can refer to their reviews.

6500 Slide for its Good Cam and overall performance including a Loud loudspeaker, TV-out and its Stylish Stainless steel design.and yea, it records video in VGA mode.
K810i for its Excellent Cam with Xenon Flash and its user interface.
5610 for its Music/FM Radio Slider, Audio Quality, VGA video.

You do get used to it after a few weeks and then it is not difficult at all.

And ashwin...upgrade to the latest firmware if you buy N73 if it doesnt come pre-loaded with one...
K790i is a strong competitor and go through both of their strengths and weaknesses before buying one.

HTC S710 as sugegsted by kausik is best according to me in this range.
You can opt for N73 also if u prefer symbian.

dont take any other phone except these :D its my advice and experience

A windows mobile phone for 13k! That's good. I've used Windows Mobile and I don't like it unless you want to email/browse on the go.

Thanks for the suggestion. Dont bother about Symbian, EDGE and other small things like Mobile Browser. I'll run up the list and talk to him tomorrow. :)

^^if u dont like windows mobile.......take N73 and nothing else :D.....

its because i have used and experimented all cells from nokia symbian to rocker to windows mobiles......

all people who know me , even friends of friends come to me for my advice to take a new phone :D they are really happy with the cell i suggested to them in the price factor and features .

i hope you too will be happy and relaxed with the phone i suggested .

i have found nokia 6300 very decent phone
very decent and cool look. very slim and stylish phone
good camera , FM , music player etc
drawback - bettery life is too short

First of all, this is the exact thread I was thinking to start for a friend of mine who has similar budget to look out for. So, thanks for the help! :D

Without a doubt go for N73! It's the best one out there within your budget (if not less!). It's loaded with features such as impressive picture quality, crystal clear speakers, and obviously the conveniently customizable Symbian OS (even though dad doesn't care about it, you can get loadsa apps for him..turn it into a sleek business solution for him...or might as well get him into gaming..never too late!..whtsay!?? ;) )
