Hi Friends,

I am looking forward to buy a new pc, mainly for developing database applications, and web development, also need to work on flash.

I would like to have a config. which will be worth 2 - 3 yrs (especially processor & mobo.), so that if i need to upgrade my system for better performance i need to add RAM, graphics card...

i live in Trivandrum, Kerala. My budget is 25k. Is it possible to hav a good system within this ?

What are included in the budget? UPS? Monitor (do you prefer TFT or is CRT enough)?

Go for AMD X2 Processor (lowest is X2 5000+ I think) with 780G motherboard. Then, add 2GB RAM, 160GB SATA HDD, DVD Writer, and other basics (no need for gfx card unless you are a regular gamer). This will start from around 18k assuming 15" CRT monitor. Add for UPS and LCD monitor if required and then with the remaining get a higher proccy...

thank u topgear & sakumar79 (Arun)

sorry for an incomplete query.
budget include everything except UPS.
C2Q is too costly for me. :( cant even think of it.

i worked out as u said Arun...

and i made a config like this ... (i prefer Intel proc.)

Processor - C2D E7300 - 5750
Mother Board - GigaByte GAG33DS3R - 4800
RAM - 2* Transcend 2GB - 2250
HDD - Seagate 250GB - 2275
DVD Writer - Sony SATA - 1350
Cabinet with SMPS (Locally available) - 1300
Keyboard&Mouse - 700

all makes a total of Rs. 18425.
i think i can afford an LCD also...

shall i go for C2D E8200 and reduce monitor ?? or is there any cheaper mobo with onboard graphics (i am not a hardcore gamer), so that i could have good proc. with LCD or HDD space... any options left ... ???

any better ideas ... ? please help.

I have quoted you the price of viewsonic 22inch monitor & seagate 16MB buffer 500GB Hdd - Street price in Kolkata.

If you don't find those try 19inch widescreen LCD & 500GB Hdd.

Dual core e5200 with 2x 1GB ram is enough for programming, seeing movies etc. But for DVD rip ( coverting dvd to other format ) & gaming e7300 will give better performance.

If you have budget prob then get e5200 & OC it. You will get enough performance. BTW, Intel original mobos ( value segment ) doesn't supports OC.

Uou can go with gigabyte g31 s2l if asus board is not available.
