Need a PC for my parents.

Will be used for :
1. Internet surfing.
2. Occasional skype.
3. Photo browsing.
4. Occasional very low end gaming (like solitaire etc).

Configs in mind :
1. The CPU can be pretty low grade.
2. The motherboard can be of very low specs and basic configs.
3. 1 GB RAM (DDR2)
4. Onboard LAN
5. Atleast 3 USB ports.
6. Line out and Mic In ports.
7. VGA port.
8. Compact cabinet - Wont be expanding anything inside the cabinet ever.

No mouse, keyboard, DVD drive, monitor needed.

Want the budget to be as low as possible. Max 8k.
But would be wonderful if i can get within 5k.

Help me out guys.

The MoBo seems a bit overspecd. Especially with the DVI output.
I have a IDE hard disk.

Can you please suggest one which will have IDE connector in mobo ?

For that get a SATA to PATA converter, price will be not more than 150 bucks. I've suggested this mobo because of its wide range of processor support and 125W TDP processor support. So in future you can upgrade the processor to a higher version without the need of changing the motherboard.

Here is how the converter looks like and ebay link to purchase it at Rs 175

How about this mobo+proccy combo:
Flipkart: Viotech 3200+ Version 6.x / VIA VX900 Chipset / VIA C7-D 1.8 GHz Processor: Combo Motherboard
you save 2k more which u can use to get a new HDD or a graphics card like GTS-520 for better graphics.

Guys the PC is for OP's parents and usage pattern he has already described. I think we can remove the idea of CPU upgrades or graphics card.

@OP: Go with Cilus' config and add a SATA to PATA converter for your HDD.

Thanks a lot guys for your help.
@Cilus : Where is the best place in Kolkata to shop around for the parts ?
My parents are based out of Durgapur.

Also is there any place online where i can check mobo prices ?

Guys,

How about this config ?
CPU + motherboard Viotech 3200+ Version 6.x / VIA VX900 Chipset / VIA C7-D 1.8 GHz Processor 2949
RAM Corsair DDR3 2 GB PC RAM (VS2GB1333D3) 627
PSU Cooler Master CM 350 Plus 350 Watts PSU 1865
DVD writer LG GH22NS70 Internal Optical Drive (Black) 1008
Cabinet Existing
Total 6449

Looking to save the 2k as advised by saswat23 and invest in a PSU and DVD writer.
I know Coolermaster has a pretty bad reputation with PSUs (other than real power pro) but wont it be better than some el-cheapo brands ?

Suggestions / comments pls.

No need to invest 2k on a good PSU since it won't be used to its potential. Save the 2k and get a better processor and motherboard. The athlon x2 245 is very good for your needs.

You dont need a good PSU as skype chatting is enough. You dont need a GPU for it. so a normal PSU is enough

Enter IDE to SATA Converter & SATA to IDE Converter | eBay

Don't buy SATA to PATA converters. The ones in ebay are Sh!t. Never works. I have 2 of those things lying at the bottom of a box with rest of my hardware junk.
