strange problem...plz help me!!

i installed CryptArchiver Lite(trial) in my comp ...and when i uninstalled it..
it asked tht some of the programs will b unusable .
the path written was...C\windows\system 32\drivers
and by mistake i proceeded further....
nexxt time when i restarted my comp,i could not find one folder containing
4 gb space.....even i could not find them when i searched them in search option!!
if anyone having idea regarding this plz help me....how to get my 4 gb back
i cant even think of formatting bcoz my comp is ....
HP pavillion 5200TX and to format it i will have to restore it from the 3 DVDs
and it takes 3 hrs!!!!
and i partitioned it with the help of partition magic...
plz give ur solutions soon...

go to disk management...
Start >> RUN >> diskmgmt.msc
no make sure u dont have any unpartitioned or RAW disk space...

now check ur Page file size to see where it is and how much it is eating up...

also clear all the temp files from Temp folder...
Normal location (x:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp)

if you have system restore on it can also eat up disk space... so see if thats not the case...

as uninstalling a program cant take 4GB with it and leave ur system.... it might be any of those above reason...

i though he lost 4GB space...

anyway if thats the case the location he is reffering to "C\windows\system 32\drivers" cant contain 4GB... can it ???? un less u manually save some data in side it

Just use some data recovery softwares, like PC Inspector, etc.

I guess you have encrypted the lost folder while using the program. Reinstall the program. Load the Encrypted folder again with the password, to access your files.

i llost the folder in another partition...not in the c drive!!

i had not put any password there ..b4 tht i cancelled the installtion then it
showed C\windows\system 32\drivers and the whole story is this.

so by reinstaalling can i get the data...or will i b able to see the folder containing tht data....actually it is not visible!!!

actually i had locked the folder so due to that it was not visible at all..
after unlocking i got it...
it was my mistake...once again thanks a lot...

try what Vishal said... look for Data Recovery software... search in the forum.. hundreds of thread regarding such software.... for Ex... *www.stellarinfo.com/

ok u can do one thing if u have any live cd of linux
run live cd and just explore the drive where u have put ur 4 gb folder
if u can see it u can get it back by changing attributes in XP by command
" attrib -r -s -h "
