Sound and vista home basic....proble

hi guys...am using Windows Vista Home basic on ma Compaq v3424au...when i and playing ma DVDs or CDs den i can't hear da sound frm them...i've chked everything (hardware) and dey all r fine...so can ne one plz hlp me???..

Does the problem comes only when you play DVDs? Try playing a MP3 in Winamp and check if it runs. In case no sound is coming at all Check if your drivers are updated. Cables are properly plugged in correct places and also the Volume Control nob "Check the Volume and the state of Mute Checkbox]

In case problem is coming jsut for DVDs then I dont have much clue.
