Sony Reader and other alternatives ?

I want to buy the sony reader as soon as possible as i would be traveling soon.. I just saw it with someone and dont really know the model numbers and all the features. Is it available in India ? Whats the price range and whats the model i can buy.
Is there any alternative to this ? Was reading theres one by Amazon ?
Tried to find it on eBay but guess its not there....
Any sources ????

Some of Amazon Kindle's features like searching from amazon and downloading directly using the kindle itself isnt available in India,AFAIK. IMHO,Sony reader would be a better value for money.I think price comes to abt 250$(not sure of price in India).If its available,sm1 pls do tell the price and where to get info too.
dheeraj_kumar is right.There is a similar thread, which is likely to have more info abt the reader.

PS:Would love to buy a reader, if the price comes down to 4K.;o
