Need suggestion for a friend

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run?
Ans: Internet surfing, watching movie clips (full HD n untouched .ts too), occasionally online social games like farmville

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: INR25000 (lesser the better)

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: WinXP n Win 7 professional / ultimate

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: planning to buy a 2TB hdd. will use one 160GB samsung sata drive also

6. Do you want to buy a monitor?
Ans: already have a 20inch Dell in2020M

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: 2 160GB samsung HDDs, 1 ASUS DVD writer

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: in a month

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: i have built one and will do it for him

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Lucknow and yes to both

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: this will be used for quite some time like 1-3 years. person is a simple user, no overclocking will be done. he will use a wireless router / wired modem with a broadband connection. simple keyboard n mouse only. also simple cabinet only with a cooling fan.

later, he plans to get a 5.1 speaker set. he has seen a iball wooden set and it interested in that. any ideas about that?

For that configuration and if you do not plan to add a GPU above an HD7750 get the Antec BP300P SMPS/PSU for Rs 1850 and a normal large generic cabinet or for a bit of a quality get the Antec NSK4400 - Rs 1300 ,since your PC wont generate much or low heat theres no need to get an expensive cabinet in this case or configuration. But do not get cheap local PSU as it will damage your comuter sooner or later.

Thats all you need basically.With the money saved get a good 5.1 from Edifier/Creative,its much better than an iball Tarang or the wood one you are reffering to.

He can go a for a simple cabinet, and can spend that money on VFM 5.1 speaker.

I3 is faster than g2020 in games and multitasking work.In Normal usage like browsing,playing videos.. they both perform similar.

You can go with either H61 or b75 mobo. Extra features of B75 is hdmi port and Usb3.

Intel Hd 2000 inbuilt gpu is more than enough to play Hd 720p and 1080p content.

External gpu is not needed

Why are you going with G2020 when you can accommodate i3 3220 in your budget?

Coz there is no SUBSTANTIAL gain for the diff price we will pay for i3. For 7-8K I'll suggest AMD Fx 6300 6 core 14 MB cache processor not the crap i3/i5. And OP has asked 'would be better if less than 25k'

is this b75 board better than h67? hdmi + usb3 is good as he may opt for a better monitor as this one is some 2 years old. suggestions for monitor also please (not included in the budget).

Yes, the b75 board is better than h67. B75 chipset is tailor-made for Ivy-Bridge

At Rs 1300 you wont get SMPS and moreover you dont need a 1600MHZ RAM with a G2020,its waste since it cant utilize the bandwidth!

he usually opens winamp, excel, chrome, & firefox. at times word also. his info is spread across excel and word and he uses two browsers for different things with multiple tabs open (specially in chrome multiple tabs of facebook)

4th gen i3/penitum is not released in india. only i5/i7 is released.
get antec vp450p if you think on adding new components in near future(gpu,hdds etc.) else get antec bp300p.

Monitor : Dell s2240l ips led @rs 8800 or dell s2440l for 13.8k (depends upon the user choice and his budget)

There is no need of i3 for it.g2020 can easily handle it
