Shall I upgrade?

Hi,

I want to upgrade my pc but I don't know what to do

Here is my current conf:
Intel Dual Core processor
Intel mobo 945G
512X2=1 GB ram
PSU 400 watt

I feel my pc is slow and using xp.
I want to make it fast and use windows 7 and 8 in coming future.

Could some one suggest me shall i buy all components(cpu,mobo,ram,gfx card)?
or add only ram and a simple gfx card? If i do this would i need psu also?

I would like intel conf only. and will spend 10 - 12 k only.

Your processor is way oudated and will bottleneck most of the standard Gfx cards. And don't get fooled by looking at Pentium Dual Core thing...it is not your dual core.. In gaming performance, most of the times it beats the quad core Phenom II processors.

Your PC's outdated....If you want to change one thing, you'll have to change everything ! Coz as far as I know the 945 mobos support ddr2 RAM, and the newer mobos dont support it ! Similarly all of your components need to be changed...You desperately need a new processor, i5-2500k/2400 is currently a good choice...

As OP said he can spent 10-12k,also he mentioned a SIMPLE GFX CARD.
Also he said whether he could get an i3/i5 CPU. So here is a **BASIC** Configuration.

Intel i3-2100 - 5500
ASUS p8h61 - 3050
Corsair 4gb 1333Mhz - 1200 (flipkart)
Nvidia 210 / ATI HD 5450 - 2k approximately.

Total = 12k

^^ that is a h55 board (socket 1156) which is not compatible with i3 2100 (socket 1155). He would have to buy a h67 board.

What will he do with any of those graphics cards .... They cant even give a great HD Experience , forget gaming.

@OP go with RiGOD's config its perfect for entry level gaming.

Also, I gave this configuration coz he asked whether he could get i3/i5. And because he didn't mentioned that he wanted to play latest games on it, I thought these cards might do the job.

for 10-12 K, Im only including intel conf i.e. (ram mobo and cpu)

If a gfx is is badly needed i'll add 3 more so with that do i need a psu cause psu in my system is of 400 Watt i ball. (+12 V - 18 A, +3.3 V - 28A, +5V-40A, -12V-.8A )

So total around 15-17 K incl gfx card and/or psu.

A dealor said to me that i5 and i7 require a new type of cabinet and won't fit in your cabbie? Is that true?

Also i forgot to mention i want a mobo with 6 channel audio output and do mention everything compatible as i have sata 500 gb hard disk and psu with all supporting cables and connectors.

To answer why i need gfx card, I want to watch hd videos and use multimedia apps, windows 7 and 8 graphics, aero feel. want to play latest games but i'm not a pc gamer.

Your budget is so less and yet you want most features possible. Are you sure you want to invest in a PC? Why not consider other computing options?

Far better than what you have got now.Please don't ask for Intel mate i3 processor will alone cost you 6,000 bucks and i5 will 9k.
