Sending mail automatically

Friends I want to automate the process of sending on Thunderbird. Actually I don't give a damn if it has to be Thunderbird or any other email client or simply web interface. I just want to automate it. I mean say someone's birthday is on 20th march and I configured my email client to send a mail to that address automatically on that day. Is it possible??? If yes then How???

Could you tell me how to include a signature in Thunderbird. I can't find any option for that.
