scandisk hangs computer while checking directory structure ...

I m in serious pain My windows xp which resides in D:\ is not booting now when i try

Scandisk from bootable cd on my D:\ (Xp) drive my system hangs at 9% while checking Directory Structure given constantly "tick" sound

Scandisk does not hangs on any other partion (C:\,E,:\)

What should i do now ?

Most probably there are bad sectors in your hard disk (and in D drive). Re-install XP preferably in some other drive, C offcourse. Prior to that a low level format help you get rid of those bad sectors

Thanks buddy Can someone tell me how can i recover my imp files from it as whenever i try to access D:\ drive my system hangs

Go for any software like FileScanvenger etc for data recovery. just google it out.
