But that beats the purpose of buying a laptop! Download without electricity, since the modem goes on inverter. immidiately
yes sir, i'm talking about a scenario when you hardly use the battery. ie thruout the week if the laptop's powered on AC and out of that u run the laptop on the battery for a few minutes then this holds true. u may not notice an immediate detrimental effect on the battery. but it'll die sooner than its average life. if u use the laptop of battery than this is not needed.

One question. I have an HP nx6110. I have been using it 24X7 for about 7 months now. (Before that is was about 8 hours a day). I switch it off periodically, maybe once in 12-20 days.

Now, it does not have any alternate power in except for the battery. What to do? I cannot remove the battery and use the laptop.
since u can't remove the battery, i'd seriously advice you to start using the laptop on battery now and then. its not a good idea to run the laptop on AC for 7 months continuously!

One more thing. You said that it does not affect the H/W, if laptop runs long. I have had countless H/W problems. But ofcourse, most of them were before these 7 months of 24X7 running.

Any ideas?
the word "long" is subjective here. for the thread started "long" may mean 8 hours a day. for you it mebbe "7 months"!!! so its better if u give the laptop rest at least one a week for a few hours.

@chesss
yes, its true and applies to li-ion battries.

^^ no laptop will consume the same amount of power as any other

because, they are all different some are more efficent than others

it depends what your doing some times your laptop will need to use a lot of

power and other times it wont and how you have manadged you power

settings :)

If u want to calculate electricity consumed by ur laptop follow this link:

simply turn over the AC adapter and find the output wattage of it. divide it by 1000 to convert it to kW. now multiply the hours you use. u get it in kWh which is the no. of units. multiply it by the electricity rate and u get the amount. thats the max. energy that will be consumed.

for e.g my laptop has a 90w adapter. so thats 90/1000 = 0.09kW. if i use it for 8 hours days the no. of electricity units i'm consuming is 0.09kW * 8hours = 0.72kWH = 0.72 units of electricity.

^ Arey yarr... Not 7 months continuously.... I give it a brake from time to time... Maybe 10-15 days. And due to power problems, I had to use it in battery many times. So, have been doing that...

tHANKS FOR POSTING THIS :D you made my day!

Mine shows an output of 19V * 3.42A ,
which comes to 60 watts, so running it 8 hours a day would cost only 2 rupees MAX :D
Now thats ridiculously cheap !

Laptop can be used if you are leaving it for some overnight work. It takes little power, even UPS will give more backup, and it has a battery of its own. Good if your downloading :)
