i think i read somwhere that while previewing pictures in Xp if we rotate the picture there's a quality loss. is it true?
if yes, is there any way to either disable the rotate button or link it to the photo editing software?

I guess u read it in the warning dialog box of win XP when u try to rotate...

Well,
check this for some info...

The pics quality reduces a wee bit if u save it that way, else if u dont save it...
No loss...

No loss...

if the pic is not read-only, then you dont have to save it... it automaticaly gets saved.

k, thnx for the nfo,
then make it read onlty and rotate...
as i said, it gets only a wee bit lossy....

also, isnt the thumbs.db file a temp storage for pics ?
then how the autosave ?

d00d, thumbs.db is a thumbnail cache. Thumbs/thumbnails are those small preview pics displayed instead of the picture's icon, in case u missed it.

Also, the loss occurs because of recompression, so u can safely rotate bitmaps, methinks.
