Right off the assembly line
1. What is the purpose of the computer? (Note: If you are planning to say multimedia, you will have to be more specific as all types of systems are capable of doing that)

A:Yes please

A: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

A:7

A: This week / next week

11. Are you one of the types looking out for "future proof" configurations?

x58 doesn't support sandy bridge i.e. i5 2500k get asus p8p67 pro @12k
gtx 460 is old..get msi gtx560Ti Twin Frozr II/OC @15.5k
which cabinet..~2k range NZXT gamma is the best but IMO get intel DP67BG mobo @8.5k and get a better cabinet like CM 690 II advanced
for PSU CM is not good..get corsair cx550..if you want to sli later then you should get tx750

Edit: sorry for mistake..it'll be corsair vx550!!

Thanks for the help.

Is the i5 2500k the best bang-for-buck option between the various i5s and i7s ?

And if i stick with the i5 2500k, how much better is the asus p8p67 pro over the DP67BG? (From what i read up right now, the asus board would only support xfire and not sli but will have usb3 which the intel board doesnt)

And it looks like the cabinet and the smps are going to hurt me more than I thought.

Definitely...

DP67BG has 2*usb 3.0 ports, take a look, Intel® Desktop Board DP67BG - Overview
Asus p8p67 pro supports SLI, look here, ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards - ASUS P8P67 PRO

And it looks like the cabinet and the smps are going to hurt me more than I thought.
why so?

if you don't want to spend that much on cabinet then get NZXT M59 but cm 690 II advanced is VERY good cabinet for the price!!

hey, this looks awesome. thanks a lot !! Just one question ... whats the head-to-head between ATI HD 6950 and the GTX 560 Ti ?

@Piyush and manju: I was thinking that the case + smps would come to around 8k (as opposed to 13k now) but from snooping around in a few tech forums i found that these do make a difference. And the total for the above config adds up to less than my previous config, which is awesome.

^^get any you want. if 560 then look at MSI GTX560 Twin Frozr II OC/Asus GTX 560 Ti Direct Cu II @ 14.5k. if 6950 then sapphire.

OP,
why do you want to run Crysis 2 on 22-march only???
Yes go with Jaskanwar's config. Its very good one.
But i would suggest you to go with the Radeon 6950.

Check it here:

No seriously there must be something better in the ASUS mobo else only a fool would buy an ASUS.

Quality dude, Asus is the best quality mobo in India. That is why I have ordered a Asus P8P67 DELUXE, but waiting for the B3 stepping version :(
Also Asus has GUI BIOS, which is not there in Intel mobo, I guess. And you also have additional expansion slots and an added southbridge which gives you more option to connect 4(or 2, not sure about the number) more HDDs.
