I am planning to buy a DDR2 RAM for my old system.

DDR2 RAM of 1 GB is available of ADATA company!

Is this company (ADATA) RAM good and reliable ?

Please advice me.

ADATA is a good company but why buying 1 GB module...get 2 GB module. And buy ram from the company which has better service in your area. Normally Kingston, Corsair, Transcend have widespread support so try to grab the kingston one.

If Kingston or Corsair is available, then better to get them. And go for 2gb if possible.

okay! I will buy Kingston or Transcend.

I have one more question:

Actually I will be putting this RAM module of 1GB in D945GCNL mobo. (Already I have 1GB DDR2 kingston RAM module in this mobo installed (KVR667D2N5/1G).

Now, my questions:

1. Can I mix CL5 and CL6 modules ?
2. Can I install more than 2GB in total in this mobo ?

Please help

@Tech&ME: your mobo supports max upto 2GB.

IMO Better to use 2x1GB Modules.

Refer : D945GCNL

Sorry, forget about our earlier recommendations. Here's what I have found:-

Intel® Desktop Board D945GCNL — System memory for D945GCNL

System Memory Features
The board has two DIMM sockets and supports the following memory features:
  • 1.8 V (only) DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
  • Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported
  • 2 GB maximum total system memory
  • Minimum total system memory: 128 MB
  • Non-ECC DIMMs
  • Serial Presence Detect
  • DDR2 667, DDR2 533 or DDR2 400 MHz SDRAM DIMMs

So your best bet is 2 dimms of 1gb. As you already have a dimm of DDR2 667, add another.

EDIT:-
Ok its already been posted. Thanks d3p5kor.

^^ thank you @d3p5kor , @Skud.

I had also checked Intel website found the same and got confused!!

Anyway, now its clear to me.

So, now I will have to hunt for similar Kingston 1 GB RAM right ?

And one more question :

Can I mix Kingston 1 GB Ram in one DIMM with Transcend 1 GB Ram in the other DIMM ?

Will it be ok to do like this ?

The thing is with the BIOS update of NL94510J.86A ver. 0036 or later you can use 4 GB ram with it. I got the information in the Intel Community forum, post #8. SO upgrade it with the latest bios and plug another 2 GB.
