I have a P3,256ram,1.10ghz, XP sp2. I have formatted my pc recently, but now the start/restart and shutdown is taking ages. But before i had media centre but was not taking so many time....what's the prob ????:(

and also my pc is getting hanged between 2-3hours, especially when browsing net. sometime also when working without net it gets hanged.

anyone knows about its solution ?

first Disable all Services that you do not need

Start->Settings->Administrative Tools->Services

if u dont wan2 do it manually then i suggest u use GameXP
it will do a lot of speed optimisations
it is a little conservative when disabling services, but still does a decent job

u must also delete all d unnecessary startup entries

use RegSeeker 1.55
u can do so thru the Startup entries section

u can also use msconfig, but i like RegSeeker 1.55 better

there r literally tonnz of tweaks u can do 2 speed up ur OS, but these r d 2 basic things u must do

it seems that ur sys is overheating
mite wan2 open ur cabinet to c if there is any obstructions in d airflow around d processor
an also if d air vents of ad cabinet r cloged or not

u mite also wan2 consider applying an new layer of thermal grease to d processor, since P3s are almost 7yr old

1) First step check for virus.
2) second: read this article:

3) Regarding shutdown:
