the mag is available here atleast, if its the december issue you meant.
Though i'm not really happy with the price, i bought it, as i have been buying digit since they started printing it under the name 'digit'.

@Everyone who gets disappointed with the CDs: I just don't get you people. You buy the mag not the software! This happened in the anniversary issue too. "DIGIT YOU MUST IMPROVE" blah blah blah.... pointless! The discs are not equal to the magazine!

I agree with you but there is no issue without cd-DVD. digit may consider to have an option of having the magazine without cd-DVD in much cheaper rate.
Usualy most of the s/w contents are repeated in subsequent issues.

Whoever said that are advantages of being a subscriber, doesnt knows there are a lot of disdvantages also. Like, I have never recieved my copy of DIGIT before 12th of that month. (From June This Year) My courier service was changed from BD to DTDC. such a crap. & again this month the same mail suggesting to wait & wait. It seems this people dont learn from their past mistakes.
Ne VE, last copy of my subscription. I'd I'm goddamn determined not to renew it. ADIOS DIGIT.

Perhaps thats one of the negative effects of being a magazine editor. I would think calling female models on the cover 'porn' would be excessive.

I am yet to get my Digit copy, seems to take an extraordinary time this month. My newstand keeps saying 'tomorrow'. I usually get it by 3rd of the month.

[Feedback] - December 2006 Special Issue

DyneBolic Distro is awesome
The other utility CD is useful, but we dont expect these in special issues.
DVD is total waste.
Fastrack is not impressive.

We expected a Fedora 6 or knoppix distro, or atleast a full game like previous year. The last year issue had FATAFATI ( mindblowing ) softwares too.

on the whole : a thumbs down this time for being a not-so-special issue.

I finally got the copy of digit. And I thought the the tag price of Rs 200 is too much. I have a proper broadband at home so i am not bothered about the contents on CD/DVD, but the contents in the magzine this month are not very good. I thought November Issue was a lot better than this month's.

yestreday i purchased d dec issue of digit magazine....its 2 kool...i hav already completed reading it....especially the LAPTOP section is awesome....it really helped me a lot to chose a brand new lappy for first time buyers(me)...kip it up DIGIT!!!

DVD Interface

The DVD interface looks good alright, but it doesn't "ooze usability" as you have claimed. Too many mouse clicks are required to view anything, right from the "I agree" screen. Previously you had to click on "I agree" and immediately you are through. Now, select "I agree" and then click Enter- an unnecessary click. Earlier the description of the softwares were obtained at a single click. The Install button was also on the same page. Now single click to get a preview shot, double-click to read and then another click to close the window. Again double click to read the next one - another click to close. Very annoying.

I appreciate the work done by the designers and it does look pretty, but in terms of usabilty, the previous ones were better. I hope you get back to the earlier style of navigation from next month.

We never said we're reducing clicks, we said we're making it more usable, in the form of an OS like look and feel.

The disclaimer page should have just one click, and we'll change it ASAP. The rest of it, is quite similar to just using a computer. Also, for those of you who like to revisit disks, you should find the Add To Favourites very useful, so you know exactly what software you liked in this particular disk, even after years!

The previous interface was good, but the problem with it was that it was confusing for a few. Hopefully this will new one will solve all those problems.


More such feedback is requested, and we value all of it. If you find bugs, even better!

The new interface is cool and loads a bit faster too. The Explorer like interface, should have the 'details' of a particular program from the list in the right, to its left along with its image (very over-sized). Having the details below a decent sized image, would help people know about the software without double clicking it, every single time. The install button is also missing directly.

The hide Digit and leave it to system tray option is a nice addition (I am taking that as another new addition, hope am not wrong) Never noticed it earlier.

200/- !!!! I already bought pc world and burned the 6 iso for fedora core 6, its 8 dec and i still cannot find the mag , i live in delhi near igi
