finally, was able to get a sansa clip+ (2 GB - for 2k), on another forum. fellow-member here, bubusam13, was of immense help in choosing the clip+ over its other competitors:

and perhaps yes, but i couldn't come to like the look of the zip more than that of clip+. also, was highly doubtful that i would've got a zip for cheap (because of it being new, and having a bigger & coloured-screen, and if i remember it correct, few more features than clip+) in a seconds deal. didn't want to pay more for a bigger screen-size, which would not be of much use to me. so, may be, the next time, when the zip also becomes obsolete (and when i need to buy another PMP, as Fuze/Fuze+ is not for me).

SQ is very good indeed! i felt it to be very neutral. this is perhaps the only player of all the PMPs i have lent my ears to, that sounds so good in 'normal' mode in the EQ-settings! i had one apprehension about bass before buying this, but upon hearing on an EP-630 IEM, am more than pleased with the bass-response of the player! its not at all boomy, but tight & punchy, wherever required.
