Need a suggestion guys.
I was planning to buy a DVD writer. But theres these all new SATA DVD writers and my PC don't support SATA as of now. So should I buy a normal IDE one? Is that a good decision considering I would be purchasing a new PC in about a month?

If you are going to purchase a PC soon, it's better to wait. If you really can't live without a DVD Writer, then it's a different problem. Otherwise if you can manage for a month, manage it instead of getting an IDE one.

I just wanted to confirm whether it's a good idea. And apparently SATA is preferred over IDE. So I will wait!
Thanks for the reply. :)

Guys couple of months back I bought Asus DVD writer. I find that it makes lot of noise while burning disks. I never had this problem with my earlier DVD Writer. I find that this DVD Writer is quite popular here. Any ideas?
Also any suggestions on good VFM DVD 9 blank discs. Verbatim which I tried is quite expensive.

BMG ftw!!
^^ 1. DVD writer making noise? If it is quite unbearable, then it might be going bad.
2. Some brand called 'national' makes dual layer DVDs AFAIK. Never used them btw.

Whatever you select, don't go with Sony. I've had a very bad experience with them. Have bought three (+ 1 after RMA) of them in the last 4 years, and they fail to write DVD's after some time. Now will not go with Sony.
As far as DL DVD's are concerned, you have the choice of Verbatim (which you've already used, then you can go in for National (as ajayritik says) or opt in for Moserbaer. Though, I find Moserbaer and Verbatim almost in the same league as the price is concerned. But, you pay for the quality. You can try checking out www.ebay.in for some offers and here National ones are actually cheaper.

Sometimes its too much. It's hardly couple of months old so soon it could have gone bad.
National and Verbatim both have been tried. Both had equal fail rate.

Where is the question of me going for new DVD writer that too Sony.
My user name is ajayritik so I'm confused who are you referring to here. With Single Layer DVD I know which ones are good. But with dual layer DVD's have very little experience hence checking.
