Yes, for good paint health.

Sand the old paint out, apply a coat of primer and sand the panel to smoothen.

Apply another coat of primer, spray, smoothen with high-grit sandpaper and apply another coat. After that apply a gloss or matte coat just the way you want

be careful while smoothening the edges, as paint tends to come off very quickly while sanding.

also, dont just paint one part and leave it. paint the whole case.

Make sure you strip it of everything before beginning.

^^ the Prices of external HDD hardly changed I think.

I have also purchased the same HDD as aniket & have paid almost 4.5k three months back. So 500 Buck hardly matter compared to current increase in price.

Well, I bought it for 5k on Monday. Today I saw that the price has increased to 5.3k.
I was running out of space (as I recently got a Beam 10mbps connection ), and needed a new HDD. Bought it ASAP, knowing that prices will continue to rise further.
