I've been facing a small problem these days. I had bought a new transcend storejet 160gb external HDD a few months back. In past one month or so... my drives got corrupted and i had to format them. I advocted that since the HDD was being connected to systems carrying some real nasty viruses. But even after formatting the disk and not connecting it with infected systems, sometimes it is developing problems like not being able to copy from the disk givig the CRC data redundancy check error and stuff.

Is there a solution? Or do i have to get it exchanged?

An early reply is appreciated as i'll be leaving town soon!

Well get it exchanged if you can! My cousins Seagate 500GB HDD too was giving the same trouble. He got is replaced from the dealer.

At least take it to the dealer and show him your problem so that in future he can't get away with 'It's your fault' answer!

Google for hd tune and install it. Run error scan on the external hard drive and see if it has bad sectors. If it has bad sectors, give the drive to your dealer and ask for replacement.
