I am buying a new pc for my cuz. Plz help me with the config.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Gaming like crysis, cod, bf3. web browsing, a bit powerpoint, excel.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:40k

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:Yes

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:8

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:500gb

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:No, got 23" full HD monitor.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:Everything including UPS, dvd-wr, except printer

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Day after tomorw

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:yes

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: delhi

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: i5-2500k is a preferred(as fast a system as posible within budget), Moreover, can compromise in Mobo + GPU as these can be upgraded later.

For 40k you can get:
* Intel i5-2500k -- 12.5k
* AsRock Z77 Extreme 4 -- 10.5k
* Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 -- 1.7k
* WDC Blue 500GB HDD -- 3.8k
* Asus DRW 24B5ST -- 1k
* Corsair CX-500v2 -- 3.3k
* NZXT Source Elite 210 -- 2.5k
* MS Wired 600 combo -- 0.7k
* Logitech z103 speakers -- 1k
* Numeric 600VA UPS -- 1.5k
Total ---- 38.5k
If you want a better cabinet, you can get Corsair Carbide 400R for 1.5k more. And the most important thing, adding a GPU is not possible with such config.

If you wanna get GPU too then get this:
* Intel i5-2320 -- 9.5k
* Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H -- 4.6k
* Corsair 4GB DDR3 Value RAM -- 1.3k
* WDC Blue 500GB HDD -- 3.8k
* Asus DRW 24B5ST -- 1k
* Corsair CX-500v2 -- 3.3k
* NZXT Source Elite 210 -- 2.5k
* MS Wired 600 combo -- 0.7k
* Logitech z103 speakers -- 1k
* Numeric 600VA UPS -- 1.5k
Total ---- 29.2k

Thanx for your suggested rig. In the first rig, can i compromise on mobo, replace it by ''Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H'' and add a GPU around 9k? Will it be a stable build?

^ a k series processor like i5 2500k makes sense only when paired with P67, Z68 or a Z77 chipset mobo.

What if go for this:

i5 2400(i know its locked, but i am guessing its not much inferior to i5-2500k in performance)
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H
Gpu(any around 9k)
8gb ram
Will it be a fast system? Or do i need to buy a better mobo?

I have given a 2nd config too. Just get that. If you want to add i5-2400 instead of i5-2320, it will cost you 1k more. And also I have given GTX-560 in that rig. Why do you wanna get HD 7770?

I am going for this finally. I need opinions on this as it's almost finalized:

i5 3450 12000
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Motherboard 4400
Sapphire AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6850 1 GB GDDR5 9000
WD Caviar Blue 500 GB HDD 3800
corsair 500Watts 3200
Intex 600 VA 1200
Corsair Vengaence DDR3 4X2 GB = 8GB 2700
Asus DRW-24B5ST Optical Drive 1110
corsair 400r 4400

total=42000

1)Also HD7770 OR HD6850?
2)how much can i get GTX-560 for?
3)Is cooler needed?

I guess 7770 is better card than 6850. It would be better to include cooler but stock fans will do fine.
Overall, i guess its ok.

Go for HD7770. As Ashish said, it is a better card overall. Also save some money and buy NZXT SOurce 210 Elite/Gamma for 2.5k. No use spending 4.4k on the corsair 400R when you are not into overclocking, etc...

the hd 7770 costs about as much as a hd 6870
for that price (12.5k) a hd 6870 blows away everything in its price range

2 questions dude..

1)Did you top IIT?
2)Link to the card at that price :)
didn't top iit , was just selected after 1 year dropping .
On topic - 7770 and 6850 both cannot max high game like metro 2033 , crysis etc on 1080p . Go with sasawant23 advice . Buy gtx 560 from smcinternational .

@panwala95 The HD 7770's straight competition is with HD 6850 and very few HD 7770's cost above 10k. For sub-10k range HD 7770 is a rocker. With new drivers its perfomance is increasing.

YOU ARE RIGHT BUT EVEN FOR 10K THIS IS A BETTER CHOICE-
GTX 560-
Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 (ZT-50901-10M) 1 GB DDR5 Graphics Card | Graphics Card | Flipkart.com
EDIT- THIS IS THE GTX 560 SE ( CRIPPLED ) EDITION

@panwala95
HD 7770 is available for 9K and HD 7770 is available for more than 11.5K. HD 7770 is more vfm than the HD 6870 in OPs . If OP Spends a little bit , He can get GTX 560 .
