Hi all this is my first post here in digit.

Certain months back I bought a acer h203h 20" LCD and
A logitech wireless combo to connect to my netbook.
But offlate the laptop seems to lag too much.

So decided to build a desktop rig.
Started with a mere budget of 15k now have
Stretched the budget to 30k

I have bought corsair vx450 , corsair 2*2gb value ram,
Sony DVD writer.

Now I want your help in deciding the other
Parts.
My work usually involves opening n number of windows
Of excel, PowerPoint , PDF , firefox tabs , with all this I would also run some programs like tally etc, an also convert our training videos recorded in Sony hd camcorder.
Also I never had a Pc with graphic card , couldn't play games like gta all these days . So I Want to play games like gta4,bad company2,mafia2etc.,

Plzhelp guys, I'm interested in quad core configuration .
Note: of the 30k budget , I have already exhausted rs.8500
For ram,psu and dvdrw .

I have two questions.
The corsair value ram mentions it supports both
Intel and amd ddr3 processors.
So does the amd athlon ii x4 have ddr3 controllers?
If I go with amd phenom ii x4 945 , will
The l3 cache justify the additional 1.6k money .

Ya, the new Athlon II and Phenom II line up processors do have both DDR3 and DDR2 controllers. The new board designed for them is called AM3 board (938 pin) having DDR3 Ram support, while for better backward compatibility they can be plugged into older DDR2 based AM2 or AM2+ (socket 940) motherboards.

The motherboard ssb1551 has suggested is DDR3 based AM3 mobo and hence you can use your Corsair DDR3 rams on it without any hassle.

I dun think there is any such thin as "AMD DDR3" processors. It must b AM3 procc.Athlon II X4 635 runs on DDR3 1333MHz RAMs,I myself n many others in TDF use d same config of CPU n RAM.
Wow!!U r gettin a Phenom II X4 945 for 6.6k!At my place I ws asked for 7.5k..
But considerin ur usage as stated by u in d 1st post I wud say u wont notice any difference if u use 945 so accordin to me its not worth it!

^^like cilus mentioned it can also be used with DDR2 rams.
your rig is perfect. just change the cabby to NZXT GAMMA @ 2k if available.

@cilus thanks for providing clarity in the matter
What your pick on this motherboard
Asus m4a78ltm le , 760g.
This board retails for rs.2750
Since I'm gonna use a graphic card
Will I benefit from 880g chipset?
The money I save here can be used to
Upgrade to phenom ii x4 945 for Rs.6600
Secondly should I go for the 5770 now
Or will there be a considerable price dip in
Near future?
Right now the asus 5770 retails got rs.8200
Is it good.@jaskanwar I don't think the cabinet is available here
Alternatively can I go for cm 430 cabinet?
@ssb1551 I'm from chennai so I buy my hardware from
Deltapage . You could also check the prices in
Their website and order online if it is cheaper.

Dude for ur usage(as mentioned by u in d 1st post) u wont feel d difference between Athlon II X4 635 n Phenom II X4 945.Tht was my point!!If u r into serious multi-threaded apps then go for Phenom otherwise Athlon will do.Hope u r clear abt it now!

Go with ssb1551's suggestion. The type of applications you've mentioned, you don't need to go for a Phenom II quad core as they mainly perform better in games due to its 6 MB L3 cache. For other applications the gain in minimal.

2ndly regarding motherboard AMD 785G, 790G and 8XX series Chipsets support some extra features which are either missing or added through BIOS updates and works in compatibility mode in older chipsets like 740G, 760G or 780G. So better go for an 880G chipset based mobo when it is coming within your budget.

In fact I would suggest rather than increase your budget for processor, increase 1k budget for motherboard and get the MSI 880GMA-E45 @ 5.8k motherboard. It does have SATA 3 and USB 3 support and hence more future proof solution.

And regarding graphics card, you can get ASUS HD 5770 @ 8.2K. It is really a good card.

:agreed: 5.8k & tons of features that will be useful (if not now in near future).

also i'll say keep the Asus card as reserve. try HD5770 from some other brand (please no XFX) like Sapphire, PowerColor, MSI. if not available, than Asus.

@Antonykraj

go for 880g based mobo which provides usb3 and sata 3 compatibility
bcoz its future proof and at 5.8k(5.5k @ SMC delhi) is a sweet deal

Sam.Shab, Asus cards are not that bad as compared to their motherboards. In fact some of their custom PCB cards like formula one AMD cards provide better cooling and good overclocking potential. So getting a Custom PCB HD 5770 is not a bad idea either.

hey all thanks for your replies.
Bought the rest of the components for my pc and completed assembling it yesterday.
The final config
Amd Athlon ii x4 635 - Rs.4700
Asus m4a78lt-m-le - Rs.2750
Corsair vs2gb1333d3 *2 - Rs.3800
Corsair vx450 - Rs.3400
Seagate 1 tb 7200.12 - Rs.2750
Cooler Master Elite 330 - Rs.2200

Im expecting a price drop of graphic cards so going to get ati5770 in a month or so when the price drops.
I decided to go for 760g than 880g due to the price difference of Rs.2100.
Both the motherboards has sb710 chip.
Since im going to use a graphic card, the integrated chip is not of any use. so the money i save here can be used for the graphic card
