Your knowledge in hardware is 6 and you don't know what overclocking is. Buddy lower it.
Overclocking means running certain components like the Processor, Graphics card at higher frequency than their default frequency. For example running a Phenom II X4 3.2 GHz processor at 3.6 GHz. It will offer you extra performance without paying extra penny. But for this special processors (in case of AMD, you need Black Edition processors for smooth overclocking, other processors can also be oced, but not that easily) or Special processor and Motherboard combination (in case of Intel Sandybridge processors).

Now since you have no idea about it, I'm assuming you are not gonna overclock. So suggesting a non overcloakable yet very powerful rig.

Core i5 2400 @ 9.3K
Intel DH67VR-B3 @ 4.8K
Corsair 1 X 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 @ 2K
Seagate 1 TB 7200.12 HDD @ 1.7K
Zebronics Bijli Cabinet without SMPS @ 1K
TAgan Stonerock 500W 80+ Bronze PSU @ 3K
TVS Champ KEyboard @ 0.4K
GIGABYTE GM-M6800 Noble Black 5+1 Buttons @ 0.7K
MSI HD 6850 Cyclone Power Edition @ 9.8K

Total 32.7K

By the way, what is the maximum resolution of your current monitor?

Geek-With-Lens, there is no pint to go for a Phenom II 955 when at the price point Sandy Bridge quad core is available. Phenom II 955 simple can't match the performance of i5 2400 in any cases..in CPU intensive works to gaming, even if you overclock it. For PSU, add a Tagan Stonerock 500W 80+ bronze @ 3K

Then go with the config I've suggested as HD 6850 can easily handle 1600X900 resolution for any games. THe Cyclone P.E is afactory overclocked version, clocked @ 840 MHz compared to the standard 775 MHz clock of HD 6850.
