Hi
I am fed up with my old comp.
I need to buy something that allows me to play games like COD4,crysis etc.
Also I need to be able to watch TV.
My budget is about 40K.
After a month of deliberating I still can't decide b/w the following two options. Please help

Option 1:

Buy a brand new system
this is what I have in my mind

AMD Athlon II x3 435
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H
2*2GB DDR3 1333 MHz (Kingston Value)
WD Caviar Blue 500GB
DVD RW
CM Elite 310
FPS Saga II 400W
HD5670 512MB
Benq G2220HD
APC 650va
TOTAL 34K approx + 3-4 k for a TV tuner

Option 2:

Buy A TV and a gaming console
This is what I have in my mind

LG M227WA TV Monitor
XBox 360 + 250 GB harddrive +games
Total 35K + games,accesories etc

You are welcome to suggest any 3rd option if you have.

PS:Mods please move the thread to the appropriate section if this is not the correct one.

In option 1 since u r buyin a 22" full HD monitor 5670 wont b enough to play games like CoD4 with eye-candies turned on at high resolution.IMO the GPU should b lookin for is 5770 or more powerful than it.
In option 2 I think u should go for PS3!!

TV tuner are available for 1 to 1.5 k. And this also leaves money for the UPS

Lets say I go with 5770.(No PS3,its out of my budget and games r also expensive)
but which option to choose.

I too want to know wether 2nd option is better than 1st option.
I aslo agree with ssb, PS3 > X360.

Your best option 3
Get the new xbox360 slim 4gb for 14k. Its compatible with kinnect and you also get a wireless controller also forget about any upgrades to be able to play new games.
If your old pc cabinet is atx compatible then you woot need a new cabinet and i suppose you already have a ups. So minus the money by selling your old monitor and upgrade your computer for 28k and get the 360 for 14k. Games can keep coming. Hack the 360 and enjoy.

Athlon II 435 @ 3800
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @4500
2GB DDR3 1333 MHz (Kingston Value) @ 1750
Seagate 500GB @ 1750
DVD RW @ 1000
Fsp saga 2 400W @ 2000
Zotac9600gt @ 4800
This leaves you with 10000 for a monitor. I recommend getting lg tv monitor 19". This will serve the purpose of computer monitor and tv for the xbox360.
This rig is good enough to play most games and use the 360 for the rest.

AMD Athlon II x3 435 @ 3.8k
.
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @4.5
.
2*2GB DDR3 1333 MHz Kingston Value @ 4.7k
.
WD Caviar Blue 500GB @ 1.9k
.
DVD RW @ 1.0k
.
Zebbi Bijli / CM-e 310 @ 1.2/1.5k.
.
Corsair VX450W @ 3.7k or

Cheaper seasonic counterpart @ 2-3k
.
Zotac GTX460 1GB GDDR5 @ 12.7k
.
Benq G2220HD @ 7.4k
.
.
.
Quite long time folks, been busy (not) studying. BE 2nd year...will catch up after 20th.
.
Btw, avoide PS3. I usually give link directly, but you can pretty much compare XBOX 360's domination over console market just by a simple 'xbox360 vs ps3' google search...
.
But betwn pc and console, i'd choose the former even if they'd saw my hand off.
.
My logic..
PC + good graphics + controller >>>>>= xbox360.

The Fatal flaw in choosing option 1 (or 3 per redlofredlof ) is that I can only see either PC or TV at one time.

Also if suppose I buy XBox then I can also enjoy the Kinect which promises to be fun.

Please explain the reasons for your recommendations for eg @ssb1551 why do u say option 1

@redlofredlof dude i need a cabinet and a UPS since the old one are almost wasted.

BTW guys thanks for prompt replies.

Pay 2k more or check the latest prices of 20-23" version of tv monitor since it has pip so you can watch tv and pc side by side like a split screen game.

Very good suggestion toady:D!!Welcome bk BTW!Except I wud like to make a few changes:
1. 2*2GB DDR3 Kingston - 3.7k
2. HD6850(12.2k) instead of GTX460

@atin - option 1 coz I think PC(with 6850) gamin is better than Console n PS3 better than Xbox 360!!More games for PS3 than Xbox.
Moreover u get an awesome rig in 40k as suggested by toad_frog(with few changes).

Pros - Usability of PC and playbility of X360. Graphic card can be added later.
Cons - PC games only @ low (older @ medium)

You can't watch TV and PC at the same time. And splitscreen isn't much fun IMO

@Ishu Dude ur right I can't watch both at the same time but 40G is a lot of money.I need to be able to justify the vanishing money to my dad:grin:
sorry should have clarified that in the beginnig

I seem to be going against public opinion here(and favoring option 2) but I feel that gaming and movies are the only two things that need a high powered comp.if I buy an XBox these two will be offloaded from my pc.So the old one or a cheap upgrade should suffice.
And an XBox would be much more future-proof in comparison to a PC.

@redlofredlof dude sorry but i don't buy the splitscreen idea.that way can't watch anything properly:grin:

dude, on one screen you can either watch tv or pc or both at the same time. Pip is just another option. If you don't intend to play games on the pc then remove the graphics card from the config. Then you have enough for a good cabinet and a ups.

@redlofredlof
dude you forget my budget
Xbox and monitor alone would set me back by about 30.
10 k left (if I don't buy any game or hard drive for Xbox)
the config u suggested minus grafix
would still cost 14,800 not including cabinet and UPS

Still thanks again for your help:)

You can get xbox at planetM or future bazar. Aren't you gonna trade off your old pc? You will get at least 1k for your old crt.
