So I am requesting to seniors here to please suggest me a new configuration so as to upgrade my PC to work nicely and smoothly on Solidworks 2009

Cost limit is @Rs.25000/- to Rs.30000/- max

Your previous suggestion for my home PC has worked very nicely, So I am expecting your kind help once again!

seeing system requirements of solidworks 2009 i recommend the following -

AMD Phenom II x6 1055t @ 9.5k
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @ 4.5k
G.SKILL 3 * 2GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 6.9k
ATI Firepro V3700 @ 5.7k
WD 500GB Blue @ 1.8k
FSP saga II 500W @ 2.2k
CM Elite 310 @ 1.5k

Total - 32.1k

since you are using a 2009 version you will get drivers only for vista or xp. use 64bit versions to use the 6gb ram.

@jas, the V3700 card is slow. its one of the slowest of entry level card. so i'll edit your config a bit:

AMD Phenom II x6 1055t @ 9.5k
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @ 4.5k or Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-US2H @ 4.5k (if the former is unavailable or overpriced)
G.SKILL 3 * 2GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 6.9k or 2*2Gb kit from Kingston @ 4k
ATI Firepro V3700 @ 5.7k <--- currently lets discard it.
WD 500GB Blue @ 1.8k
FSP saga II 500W @ 2.2k or Saga II 400W @ 2k or maybe less.
CM Elite 310 @ 1.5k

Total - ~23k if ram is cheaper. now for 7k, add a GTS450. at least better than the V3700. i not sure how much powerful is the V3700 but its an entrylevel card. so i guess a fast card with CUDA will do the job. or you can sell your existing cpu & try a 10k FirePro card that doesn't at least fall in entrylevel section. but i guess, the Phenom II X6 (& low resolution) will handle most of the part, so even a V3700 may do but why take chance?

1)

G.SKILL 3 * 2GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 6.9k or 2*2Gb kit from Kingston @ 4k

They are different capacity 6 GB v/s 4GB ...so are they equivalent?

I just saw their system requirement page .... They recommend 6GB ... So I m bit puzzled here ...

"Ya Core i7 is Gr8 one" [ the dealer always says INTEL only cause higher margin in dealer profit ]

U wont believe , in tamil nadu many of them think AMD is local processor - cause the dealer says that AMD is local chip it will anytime burst !

X6 1055T is Best bang for Buck ! especially for multitaskers ! with in 10K u wont find better !

sam i saw the system requirements of solidworks and they say 6gb ram is good.
also they provide drivers only for pro cards. so he cant go with a GTS450.
SolidWorks
actually the problem is that his budget is low for the tasks he want his pc.

@vishyvishy
core i7 is much better but out of your budget!

i found this (choose different benchmarks from the choose benchmark button above) -

Charts, benchmarks Workstation Graphics Charts, SPECapc 3DS Max 9 Graphics

v3700 is just too much slow.
he needs atleast a v3750 @ 7.6k for his works.

AMD Phenom II x6 1055t @ 9.5k
MSI 785GM E51 @ 3.6k
G.skill 3 * 2GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 6.9k
ATI Firepro V3750 @ 7.6k
WD 500GB Blue @ 1.8k
FSP saga II 400W @ 2k
Zebronics/Intex Cabinet @ 1k

Total - 32.4k

but include 6Gb ram & you loose out on a good accelerator. so i guess, keeping the system in balance even if needed to include a gaming card will offer better overall performance. all pro apps say they need pro card only but a fast gaming card having CUDA & PhysX can do a good job if good cards are out of budget.

but i'll better wait till someone with experience verify our opinions cause i feel i misleading myself & others.

this looks better. or simply drop 2Gb ram for now. later add 4Gb more, taking total to 8Gb. than the total will be strictly in his budget.

Thanks for the kind guidance so far ...

I got Quote for following configuration ...
core i7
4GB DDR 3 Kingston/Dianet
500GB Segate
VIP cabinet
DVD Writer
Keyboard mouse (Rs.750)
58 BT Intel Board
1 GB NVIDIA Graphics card
---> Rs. 40,000/-

...Is this ok??

Our Phenom Enquiry is still under processing.
He says
1. Phenom is very very slow compared to core i7
2. the Motherboard I mentioned creates problems in latter time

... All Your guidance is eagerly awaited as usual!

phenom x6 is not slow as compared to intel i7. it offers great multithreaded performance at total price of system lot lower than i7.
at a 40k budget a 1090t @ 14.5k is a better option for you.
intel i7 950 @ 15k is even better but mobo costs atleast 10k.
also get a better pro card from saved money.

AMD Phenom II x6 1090t @ 14.5k
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @ 4.5k
G.skill 3 * 2GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 6.9k
ATI FireGL V7600 @ 10.1k
WD 500GB Blue @ 1.8k
FSP saga II 500W @ 2.2k
CM Elite 310 @ 1.5k

Total - 41.5k

v7600 is superb card with great price-performance ratio.
here is v7600 review - Workstation-Shootout: ATi FireGL V7600 vs. Nvidia Quadro FX 4600 : A Balance Of Power This Fall?

Dear Jaskanwar Singh,Sam.Shab,

I have got little diff suggestion,

He says lets take

1. ASUS M4A88TM Mobo with inbuilt 1 GB graphics Card, It has HDMI ports also.

He has got no complaints in ASUS mobo in last 4 years.
