I Always Prefer 1080p
Intel Core2Quad Q6600
Asus P5KC Board (reason I am buying this is because of DDR2 and DDR3 compatibility and also support for 1333 MHz FSB)
3*1 GB DDR2 667 MHz RAM
Antec Three Hundred Cabinet
Antec 650W SMPS

Main purpose for buying this - Virtualization using VMWare Workstation and 1080p HD Movie Playing

Right off the assembly line
antec psu owns both cm/crossair.

but it has got pathetic service.

if ur pc is going to run for more than 6 hours daily than gofor psu with pfc.

else cm extreme 500/600 watts would be enough.

virtualization can lead to huge ram ysage.
i would suggest u to gofor 2x2gb ddr2 800 ram from trancend/kingston becuse they are cheap and wont be so cheap once ddr3 become mainstream

also 6600 quad doesnt need 1333 mhz fsb. so that reason looks stupid.

if it is a mission critical operation and u are not going to overclock then gofor intel mobos

if u wanna overclock then gofor p35 chipset.
u can find abi mobos wid it.

abit currently has most cost effective p35 mobo

why dont u got E8200 or E8400 45nm processor
How ? He can get dual channel with only 2 Rams ie 2x 1gb and the other ram will perform less that the 2x1GB cause that gb ram module will not run @ dual channel.

@techtronic
get 4x1GB 800Mhz ram with windows vista 64 bit edition and apply the latest sp1.

I am not going to use Windows Vista atleast for the time being.
Going to install Windows XP 32 Bit so I guess I will not buy more than 3 GB DDR 667 MHz RAM.

Also I am also planning to switch to Intel Q9300 instead of Q6600 as Q9300 supports 1333 MHz FSB

I'll recomend to stick with 2x1GB ram for now. It's enough.
Go for another 2x1GB later and with 64 bit edition of vista. That will be more future proof.
